Indigenous people have a long history of responsible land stewardship, and an extensive knowledge of what it means to adapt plants to thrive in the desert. Good Burger provides a wacky glimpse into fast food culture, the polar opposite of traditional food sovereignty. To kick of our 4th year of Science Moab On Screen, we spoke with Diné scientist Reagan Wytsalucy, Assistant Professor of Agriculture & Natural Resources at USU Extension San Juan County. Reagan shared her groundbreaking research into the genetics of traditional peaches, spinach, and other crops cultivated by Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni communities, utilizing perspectives and practices from both western science and traditional knowledge.
